I’m really not the expert on the technical side of amps. Use a small patch cable and combine the upper normal with the lower bright and plug the guitar into the upper bright. It’s one thing to read the articles, but if you don’t try to use them as a starting off point, why read them in the first place. You need to have a minimum of volume to smooth out some harsh overtones that you often get with gain pedals. I have some doubts about the Laney Cub 12R, I acquired it mainly for its sound and second for the option of 1 watt of output, however it is very loud in my room, this derives other doubts: -How do you set the breaking point or better volume for the valves? Bias is a topic in its own but in short – Underbiased (too little voltage) means that the tubes will overheat and the amp will get noisy and hard to control. The HRD is loud, which can be a problem when playing at home since you need to push the amp a bit to get the smooth tones. I find that article very useful. Basically feeding both Normal and Bright channel at the same time so you can blend them in with the individual input potentiometer knobs.
